Shades of Arch Duke Franz Ferdinand , an attempt made on the life of Chancellor Angela Merkel of Germany in Prague, Czechoslovakia yesterday was foiled by police. Now if successful I don’t think for a minute it would have triggered the events that led to World War 1, but it would have had some major repercussions. Merkel is under great pressure on her immigration policies and her people and now others in Europe feeling the pinch are responding with more tenacity.
The man – in a black Mercedes – “attempted to join the motorcade as it moved between Prague airport and Czech government headquarters”.Czech police arrested the man today and police spokesman Jozef Bocan said the suspect was in custody.Furious crowds called on her to quit when she arrived in the Czech Republic today for a meeting about the migrant crisis. One protester waved a placard showing the German leader with a Hitler moustache as another had made a poster featuring the EU flag next to that of Nazi Germany.
Merkel recently met with Leaders of France and Italy to discuss continues migrant immigration to Europe which is not going well by any stretch of the imagination. Tourism dollars economic wise and safety are at the top of the lists of the people’s concerns. The people are rising and time will tell if leadership will listen to the will of the people or continue down the path of littered streets of good intentions. What do you think?
