I found this video quite by accident but I found it to be very educational on several different levels. As many of you like me watched the Fresh Prince of Bel Air remembers the cousins, Will and Carlton were very different. Will was a inner city black, was hip and cool but he managed to get good grades and improve his station in life. Carlton was basically portrayed as a white black man. He was a conservative who enjoyed Tom Jones and Barry Manilow. Both young men in the show are role models for different reasons, but despite their diversity, they face the same problems because of their race.
So, which one is my favorite character? Neither. My favorite was always Phil, the father, a man of unequal fairness and a man of success, but who never forgot where he came from.
