Will Obama Pardon Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl for Cowardly Act of Desertion?

Here is something that can spoil any American’s Christmas cheer.  Dishonored Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl has formally requested President Obama pardon him for his desertion, according to Fox News. The families of the six soldiers that died searching for the cowardly deserter may want to share a few choices words with the outgoing president if he does pardon Bergdahl.

There are heroes in this tragedy that the deserter does not want the American people to remember.  Liberals and Obama administration officials fawned over Bergdahl and his parents who were treated to a White House Rose Garden reception by Obama in 2014.  But six brave American soldiers paid the ultimate price and should never be forgotten.

They are:

  • Staff Sergeant Clayton Bowen, 29, of San Antonio, Texas, and Private 1st Class Morris Walker, 23, of Chapel Hill, N.C., were killed  on Aug. 18, 2009,
  • Staff Sergeant Kurt Curtiss, 27, of Murray, Utah, died Aug. 26 in Paktika Province, Afghanistan,
  • 2nd Lieutenant Darryn Andrews, 34, of Dallas, Texas, died Sept. 4 in Paktika Province
  • Staff Sergeant Michael Murphrey, 25, of Snyder, Texas, died Sept. 6 in Paktika province,
  • Private 1st Class Matthew Martinek, 20, of DeKalb, Ill., was seriously wounded in Paktika province on Sept. 4, 2009, and died Sept. 11 at Landstuhl Regional Medical Center, Germany, of wounds sustained in the attack.

When you couple this national loss of American treasure with Obama trading Bergdahl for five senior Taliban officials, who were imprisoned at Guantanamo, one could easily see Obama let the cut and run deserter escape prison by granting a pardon.

Fox News reported that Bergdahl’s letter to Obama thanked him for his May 2014 rescue from five years Taliban imprisonment while also requesting that he grant him with an irreversible pardon.  True to Bergdahl’s nature of avoiding military protocol and rules, he neglected to go through the Army’s military chain of command to submit the request formally.

The nation was reasonably amazed when Bergdahl returned and was held in the highest esteem by President Obama’s national security advisor Susan Rice said Bergdahl who stated that Bergdahl served his country with “honor and distinction.”

Nearly two years earlier Rice told the nation on six national Sunday news shows that the Benghazi attack was based upon the discredited lie of a video.  So much for her grasp of reality.

Meanwhile Bergdahl’s court-martial trial has been further delayed until May 15 at Fort Bragg, NC.  The Sgt. Faces desertion and misbehavior charges which could net him life in prison.

No small wonder that Bergdahl wants a get out of military jail pass with the outgoing Obama rather than face his chances before a President Trump who has labeled him a “dirty, rotten traitor” last year.
