Pierre L. Loury, 16, was shot in an alleged confrontation with the police last night.  Police were looking for a car that was involved in an earlier shooting.  They found the car they suspected held the shooters and Lourey jumped out of the car and ran.  One police officer followed him on foot and claims that the suspect aimed a gun at him, at which time he fired an undetermined number of shots (Some witnesses claim they heard 2 shots) striking Loury in the chest.  He was taken to the hospital where he later died.  A gun was found at the scene and taken for evidence.  A clip was also found.

According to the New York Daily News, Loury was a gang member and had a history with the Chicago police department.  The News also said that a check of Loury’s Facebook page, showed him holding a gun and smoking what is believed to be drugs in several pictures and also counting a stack of money.

His mother commented to the Chicago Tribune:

“Everything they said on the news is not the truth.  It is not the truth. It’s not the truth.”

An unidentified “witness” at the scene claims that Loury was shot as he tried to climb a fence.  However, the coroner said that Loury died from a gunshot to the chest, which would be impossible were he facing away from the officer.  The officer will now be put on modified duty for thirty days while the shooting is being investigated.

About 100 protesters marched peacefully in the area where Loury was shot last night.
