Police locked down a South Florida mall after one person was killed and another was injured in a shooting on Saturday morning, CBS Miami reports.
Detectives said the shooting took place at the Fast Fix jewelry store inside the Coral Square Mall, located in suburban Fort Lauderdale. Coral Springs police spokesman Ernesto Bruna told local news outlets the shooting wasn’t random.
Police said 59-year-old Gus Kiriazis died at the scene, while 52-year-old Sabas Anthonio Ferrer was rushed to Broward Health North in critical condition.
The mall, which has 120 stores, went on lockdown around 10:30 a.m. and it reopened reopened to holiday weekend shoppers around 11:30 a.m.
Shopper Tracy Collins told the Sun Sentinel she was in line at Old Navy when she heard the shooting. Store employees directed everyone to the rear of the store, where they stayed for about an hour. She said people were running and bumping into one other to get to safety.
Coral Springs police said on Twitter that no suspects were being sought. By late Saturday morning, police were not looking for an active shooter and the area was secure.
This shit is never going to stop in this writer’s opinion, unfortunately. It’s only going to escalate in the turbulent times that this country is going through. I don’t see an answer,
I suggest that we as a patriotic nation, rally and prepare to defend ourselves and our families against those who so blatantly attempt to eradicate the rights that were governed to us by our forefathers.
Personally, I don’t think that President-elect Trump will be able to dissuade any of the escalating violence that is contaminating our country, regardless of how good his intentions may be.
The shit is going to hit the fan boys and girls, prepare yourselves to defend what is dear to you.
