Shenandoah County Schools Superintendent Jeremy Raley announced that both the Strasburg High boys varsity and junior varsity basketball teams are suspended and will not be able to practice or play games after it was revealed that a sixteen year old male was sexually assaulted on a bus.  The incident occurred in mid December but was not reported to the county school officials until this week.  No specifics have been given out, but the attack was described as very serious.

There is an ongoing investigation to find out exactly what happened and who was on the bus and tried to cover it up.  It is not known if there were any adults on the bus at the time of the sexual assault.  The investigation is being headed by Shenandoah County Sheriff’s Maj Scott Proctor.  Proctor said the victim was a sixteen year old boy and the attackers were all students.  Proctor is not accepting phone calls and refuses to comment on the investigation, which is in it’s early stages.

A similar case happened in Tennessee, where four freshmen were sexually abused.  Three Ooltewah High School basketball players have been charged with aggravated rape in the incident.  No other charges have been filed yet.  Three school officials have been suspended without pay while the school investigates them for not reporting the assaults and abuse.
