This reminds me of the scene in the move The World According To Garp where a plane crashes through a house that newlyweds were looking to buy and they took the house anyway, because as Robin William’s character says, “We’ll take the house. Honey, the chances of another plane hitting this house are astronomical. It’s been pre-disastered. We’re going to be safe here.”
If you can laugh in the face of what some might call an omen you were meant to be together.
I’m sure you had a beautiful wedding day. The flowers, the dresses, the friends, the dancing, the food. Yes, I’m sure it was memorable, and fun, and will be remembered for many years to come.
Please don’t call it “epic” though. There’s only one couple who can refer to their wedding as “epic”: Krissi and Shane McCollow in Nashua, Iowa.
Before you consider reclassifying your wedding day, ask yourself this — Did any forms of public transportation explode at your wedding? Right after you got off? Exactly.
Krissi and Shane McCollow were on their way to the church for their wedding when they noticed an odd smell starting to swirl around the “party bus” they were on. That smell was accompanied by a thick smoke.
At that point, they were only worried about whether or not the bus would get them to the church on time. They had a lot more to worry about though, because they noticed something “off” as they made their way: a strange odor.
They did make it to the church, and bride, groom, and the bridal party left the bus and headed inside. Moments later they returned to the bus in disbelief.
It was a miracle that no one was hurt. Not only was everyone OK, they seemed to be taking it all in in stride.
In fact, photographer McKaila Hanna applauded Krissi for her demeanor saying, “I can’t believe as a bride she was that calm.” She also noted that Krissi was more concerned that everyone was OK than how this would affect “her” day.
The fire department soon arrived on the scene, putting an end to the excitement. For their part, the bus company had more transportation delivered, so that the day could continue on.
Congratulations to the newlyweds on this explosive start to their life together. We’ll be watching with anticipation to see how they celebrate their first anniversary.
