A North Carolina couple have been arrested and charged with assault after getting in a food fight with pizza rolls. As if this wasn’t ridiculous enough, the couple were actually at home when the food fight occurred; it’s not like they were out at a nice restaurant or something.
According to FOX46,
GASTONIA, NC – A Gastonia couple was taken into custody Independence Day after authorities say the two assaulted each other using pizza rolls.
Brad Scott Beard, 24, and Samantha Brooke Canipe, 21, were each charged with one count of misdemeanor simple assault and booked into the Gaston County Jail Monday morning, according to arrest records.
Gastonia police said the couple got into a fight about 1 a.m. at their apartment off Spring Valley Drive by throwing pizza rolls at each other.
It’s unclear how the fight started, how many rolls were thrown or the brand of rolls that were used.
Police say Beard faces up to 60 days in jail while Canipe faces up to 30 days in jail.
This is completely obsurd. You would think the police would have better things to do on the fourth of July but apparently apprehending people for throwing pizza rolls is more important. Let’s hope that the couple does not have to do the maximum amount of jail time and that the judge will see things correctly and let them off easy. A simple “don’t fight” warning would probably have done the trick but no doubt this couple learned their lesson.
