Did They Get It Right? SNL Spoofs First Presidential Debate

The first presidential debate looked like an act right out of Ringling Bros. to many. While The Second Greatest Show on Earth ramped up at Hofstra University on Monday, the event also took center ring at Saturday Night Live. SNL’s spoof on the debate featured Alec Baldwin as Donald Trump and Kate McKinnon as Hillary Clinton. Lester Michael Che juggles the role of moderator Lester Holt.

The trio takes swipes at “Trumped up trickle down economics,” jobs fleeing the States, “broken mics,”  Clinton’s health, Trump’s fitness to be president, and climate change. Also in the cross-hairs are Trump’s tax returns, the Iraq war, Trump tweets, Bill Clinton, Rosie O’Donnell, Sean Hannity and “the stiff red cuff.” Also “Wrong, wrong, wrong.”

Baldwin responds in Trumpidian fashion with canned one-liners and enough redundancies to make your ears bleed. McKinnon portrays a schoomzy, sanctimonious Clinton who can’t wait to unleash the Alicia Machado brouhaha.

Time to ‘send in the clowns’? What say you?
