Dr. Ben Carson met with Donald Trump at his Mar-a-Lago estate in Florida and it was later announced that Carson would endorse Donald Trump for president. The endorsement could be a slap in the face to Ted Cruz, whose campaign spread lies about Carson dropping out at the Iowa caucuses. Carson believes that he was undermined by the Cruz campaign. Although the Cruz campaign used the excuse that there was a media report that Carson was dropping out and going back to Florida, that too, was shown to be a lie. The news report merely said Carson was going back to Florida to pick up clothes before returning to the campaign trail.
During Thursday’s debate, Trump announced that Ben Carson would be endorsing him and that Carson had strong education credentials, so look for Carson to head the Department of Education should Trump win the presidency.
Mr. Carson would only say Thursday that he was “leaning” toward endorsing Mr. Trump, saying that behind the scenes the billionaire is a thinking man and reasonable.
“There are two Donald Trumps,” Mr. Carson said John Gibson’s show on Fox News Radio. “There’s the Donald Trump that you see on television and who gets out in front of big audiences, and there’s the Donald Trump behind the scenes. They’re not the same person.”
“One’s very much and entertainer and one is actually a thinking individual,” he continued. “That one is someone you can reason with very easily and who is actually very comfortable talking about issues and recognizing that he doesn’t have all the answers. It’s a very different one — it’s a night and day difference.”
Carson will endorse Trump at a campaign trip in Florida on Friday according to press reports.
