Fast Food Worker Gets Nasty Surprise From Restaurant For Helping Out Hungry Veteran

A worker at a Jack-In-The-Box has been fired after offering a hungry veteran a meal that cost less than $2. Not only was the man a veteran, but a regular customer to this restaurant.

According to Conservative Tribune,

A teenage fast food worker says he was fired after offering a veteran free food and coffee at a Jack-in-the-Box.

According to Fox News, 19-year-old Alex Mesta was fired from the restaurant after giving a United States military veteran complimentary tacos and coffee.

Mesta told Fox that the veteran regularly came to the establishment.

Altogether, the food cost under two bucks. The coffee cost 80 cents, with the customer’s veteran discount, while the tacos cost $0.99, totaling $1.79.

When asked why he gave the veteran complimentary food and coffee, Mesta said,  “Since he’s a vet, I don’t think I should charge him for his coffee. It’s not even a dollar for a coffee.”

What Mesta did not realize was that his actions were all caught on the store’s surveillance video.

Later, the teen was fired from the franchise, but the establishment leaders were quick to defend their actions, saying that the termination had nothing to do with the veteran.

The company released a statement to explain Mesta’s termination.

“We, too, are grateful to our veterans and to the men and women currently serving in the armed forces,” it said. “While it would not be appropriate to provide complete details on an internal disciplinary issue, our actions in this case were not based on just one incident and had nothing to do with the guest’s military experience.”

Regardless of whether Mesta was fired for his actions or for other reasons, it is clear that the world needs more people like this teen.

While the company claims that Mesta was fired for other reasons than this incident, it seems all too coincidental. Unless this was something that this worker did all the time, a simple meeting to set some rules about this kind of situation would have been fine. No one should have been fired here.
