Father & Son Break Out In Fight Over High School Football But Then Things Turn Critical Quickly

A 16-year-old Texas boy repeatedly stabbed his father after a fight broke out over him refusing to play high school football, police said.

The boy apparently snapped and grabbed a knife in his Sugar Land home Monday night before plunging it into his 45-year-old father multiple times, a police spokesman said.

That violent escalation started after the boy’s father learned that his son was missing from Clements High School’s football team, Doug Adolf, the city’s Assistant Director of Communications, told the Daily News.

“The son admitted that he had been skipping football practices and told his father he intended to quit the team,” Adolf said.

When first responders responded to a 911 call placed by the boy’s frantic mother, the teen’s dad was described as critically injured.

“He was alert but his wounds were deep and very serious and there was some concern on whether or not he’d survive the night,” Adolf said.
