From this point on, I consider Fox News the Jeb Bush Network. Early on in the election cycle, Jeb Bush made the preposterous remark that he didn’t need the conservatives to win. In fact, he said that if you lose the primaries, you have a better chance of winning the general election. You see how well that worked. He got the first part down pat but the second part didn’t work. For the past few years, Fox has ignored the very group that made them number one in cable news. Their numbers continued to grow.
But during this election cycle , Fox has dropped all semblance of worry over what their base thinks. My guess is that they want an even bigger share of the audience, so they are trying to appeal to lefties.
Here is a graph that shows the result of that:
Notice that during every period where viewership by the left increases their approval among conservatives drop by an even larger margin. In 2013, Fox was number one with a rating of a plus 49 score. (Scores run from high, plus 100 to low, minus 100) At the time the next graph was done, the two were essentially tied at minus 5. They have recovered a bit, now sitting at a positive 17. That’s still a drop of 32 points.
The ratings are the work of a British Company named YouGov Brandindex. They have a simple way of finding the ratings for news organizations. They ask if you have heard anything about a particular news organization. If they have the followup question is what you heard positive or negative. Each answer moves the chart one point. Fox experienced a 32 point turnaround. In less than 3 years no less.
On Super Tuesday, you have a choice. You can either watch Marco Rubio’s campaign managers at the Jeb Bush/Fox News station or you can get updated results all night from me. No talking heads telling you that the loser really won and why it’s stupid voters who spoil the elections. Just the tallies. And at your convenience. Come back as often as you want for updates.
Go here and make it a favorite. If you like it, we will do this on every night with several contests.
