Pablo Antonio Serrano-Vitorino, 40, an illegal immigrant from Mexico, has been arrested in the deaths of five people. Serrano-Vitorino was finally hunted down and captured as he lay face down in a ditch not far from where he is alleged to have killed his fifth victim. He had been held in the Overland Park Municipal Court. However, ICE messed up and sent the order of detainer to the Johnson County Sheriff’s Office. That allowed Serrano-Vitorino to walk out of the court a free man. Free to kill.
Serrano-Vitorino is said to have killed one of his neighbors, 41-year-old Michael Capps, and three of his friends who were at his home at the time. They have been identified as Austin Harter, 29, and Clint Harter, 27 — and 36-year-old Jeremy Waters, of Kansas’ Miami County in the state of Kansas. He then led police on a manhunt.
Police in Missouri along Rte 70, which runs from Kansas City to St Louis. Police said that Serrano-Vitorino had gunned down Randy Nordman and then fled on foot, where he was captured.
ICE issued the following statement:
“U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) previously deported Pablo Serrano-Vitorino, an illegal alien from Mexico, in April 2004, based on final orders of removal from a federal immigration judge. Mr. Serrano-Vitorino illegally re-entered the United States on an unknown date. ICE will continue to monitor this case and will place a detainer on Mr. Serrano-Vitorino if he is taken into local custody. ICE remains focused on smart, effective immigration enforcement that prioritizes threats to national security, public safety and border security.”
Hopefully, ICE knows where he is this time. If you or I made a mistake that allowed an illegal alien to kill five people, we’d have been convicted and sent to prison by now, but don’t expect anyone from ICE to pay the price.
No motive for the killings is known at this time.
