ken-salazar

Because Bernie Sanders was so successful against her in the primaries, Hillary Clinton was forced to change her position on two very important issues , fracking and the TPP trade deal.  For a long time, Hillary sang the praises of of the TPP and was a big supporter of fracking.  Many radical liberals were not thrilled when Clinton  named Sen Tim Kaine as her running mate.  Kaine voted to fast track TPP, which makes it much more likely to pass.  He is also a big fan of fracking.  Clinton assured the liberals and leftists in her party that she would carefully select those who would be in charge of those areas in her presidency.

They ate it up, convinced that Hillary would keep her word.  That is until this week.  They are now convinced that Hillary lied to them.  (say it ain’t so, Joe)  Clinton chose former Colorado Sen Ken Salazar to head her transition team.  It will be left to him to make lists of people for appointments in Clinton’s cabinet should she be elected.  Salazar is a big time supporter of both fracking and the TPP.  Liberals are sweating bullets.  Trump loves fracking too, so the environmentalists may hold their nose and vote for her, hoping they can raise enough cash to sway her opinion.  Unions and the TPP is another matter.

Not all liberals are up in arms.  Ct Rep Rosa DeLauro isn’t.  She said:

“Secretary Clinton has made her opposition to the Trans-Pacific Partnership very clear, having stated that she opposes the agreement now, will oppose it after the election, and will oppose it once in office.”

Let’s take a stroll down memory lane, when another Clinton was running for president.  From Bill Clinton for President:

BILL CLINTON OFFERS AN ECONOMIC PLAN TO COMPETE AND PROSPER IN THE WORLD ECONOMY

Bill Clinton will cut taxes for the middle class and make the rich pay their fair share.

Within his first month in office, he raised taxes on the middle class.  Similarly, Hillary is proposing a 1 trillion dollar tax increase but says she will cut middle class taxes.  Have another cup of Kool Aid?  Bottom line?  You can’t trust a Clinton.

But where Hillary could suffer most is from union employees.  The union bosses have a seat at the democratic table, but not the workers.  The argument being used is that we are opening markets for American products.  Horse puckey.  Trump is right on trade and the effects it has on jobs in the United States.

The US trade deficit for April, May and June was a combined 122.69 billion dollars and that’s with countries that have been “opened to US goods.  Now, suppose we did not buy or sell anything to those countries.  Would Americans just not buy the products from overseas or would they buy American made products?  Let’s assume that because of the higher prices 1/3 of those purchases are not made.  That still leaves us with an additional 81.785 in American products sold.  Now, answer me this.  By adding more trading partners, who will have the advantage over Americans due to the poor negotiations by Obama and team because they feel guilty for whatever, will it increase or decrease the trade deficit?

For union workers, the TPP isn’t about politics or ideology, it’s about survival.  So, while the unions may endorse Hillary, the real workers will not.  Appointing Salazar just amplifies it.
