Kentucky Police Officer Loses His Life In The Line Of Duty, Jay Leno Steps Up In $10,000 Ways

While it may not be en vogue to support the men and women in blue, this famous comedian has stepped outside the boundaries of political correctness to make a big statement. A $10,000 statement. A statement that says “I support law enforcement!” This family’s tragedy might just have turned into the beginning of a movement to support the policing faction of our society that puts their lives on the line for Americans, across the country.

CNSNEWS: Jay Leno has donated $10,000 to the family of a slain police officer in Richmond, Kentucky.

As WKTY reports, Officer Daniel Ellis was shot and killed during a robbery investigation in November. Last Saturday Saint Mark Roman Catholic Church had an event featuring Leno and intended to support Daniel Ellis’ widow, Katie Ellis.

“You know everybody thinks the world is such a terrible place,” said Leno, “but there are more good people than there are bad people and we hear about the bad people. You know, it’s like this police officer that was killed in the line of duty, he was a good man.”

Katie Ellis said, “It’s bittersweet, you know? I’d rather just be sitting on the couch with Daniel, but that can’t happen. So, I feel like the community is really healing with me.”

Father Jim Sichko of Saint Mark Ellis with an all-expense paid trip to Disney World for her and her three-year-old son, Luke. Then Leno donated $10,000 for Luke’s college fund.

“I’d like to see him go to college,” said Leno. “Police officers don’t make enough money anyway and when you lose the bread winner of the family, it’s the saddest thing in the world.”
