Lafayette College Spanish Professor Ends Hunger Strike Over Tenure

Does this story not reek of a child who does not get his way, and throws a tantrum? Lafayette College in Pennsylvania is a prestigious institution geared towards Engineering and Liberal Arts. One year can run $60,000. Tenure was not granted to Professor Rojo based on teaching abilities. He has been there 8 years now and was hoping for the best, but instead of taking it like any other in corporate America and work at his short comings he took the liberal leftist approach and went on a hunger strike. Theory was, “I’ll kill myself by not eating, that will show you”. After time it dawned on himself that no one really cared.

According to Fox News:

Lafayette College professor Juan Rojo said on his Facebook page that halting the strike was “an agonizing decision, more so than the decision to start.” He said he decided to wait until Monday to eat again after informing the college’s board and community of his decision. Rojo has taught Spanish language and literature at the college since 2008. A committee voted in December to recommend him for tenure, but college president Alison Byerly denied his tenure, saying he didn’t exhibit “distinctive” teaching abilities.

This is my advice to Professor Rojo, “Get back to work,” there are many people who speak Spanish, and the University can always find someone to fill your shoes, especially at a school with the afore mentioned tuition. Also for the parents who would let their child  sign up for a course as this, stop them. Take something that will help them get a decent job after graduating. You can send them to Spain for the summer on a tenth of that, and they will come back speaking fluent with a knowledge of Franco and Picasso. What do you think?
