Meet the Indiana Sheriff Who Ordered the FDA and DOJ Out of Town By Sundown

Rogers-for-quote

Anyone who has ever been under the thumb of a vengeful government agency knows what a harrowing experience that can be  Unless of course you live in Elkhart County Indiana  under the protection of Elkhart County Sheriff  Brad Rogers.  Our story begins in 2011, when the Food and Drug Administration  (FDA) and the Department of Justice (DOJ)  went after one of the local dairy farmers who had been selling raw milk to an organic food coop.  They threatened the farmer and even drew up subpoenas and was about to conduct grand jury hearings in an effort to make him stop.

They also started a campaign of harassment that included inspections every two weeks.  Dairy farmers normally are inspected once a year.  Despite the fact that the farmer had broken no laws and regularly passed these inspections meant to force the farmer to surrender to their will, they never let up.  The farmer went to Sheriff Rogers and voiced his complaint.  Sheriff Rogers, who is a member of  CSPOA- Constitutional Sheriffs and Peace Officers Association, and he made this promise to his constituents:

“YOUR LOCAL ELECTED OFFICIALS … CAN STEM THE TIDE OF FEDERAL OVERREACH IF THEY APPLY JUST A LITTLE BACKBONE IN SUPPORTING AND DEFENDING THE CONSTITUTION. EXPECT IT! DEMAND IT! SOME BLOGGERS AND NATURAL FOOD WRITERS HAVE HAILED ME AS A HERO. I’M NO HERO. I’M JUST DOING MY JOB.

WHETHER YOU ARE CONSERVATIVE OR LIBERAL, I WILL BE A GUARDIAN OF THE CONSTITUTION FOR YOU, AND WILL NOT STAND IDLY BY WHILE THE RIGHTS OF CITIZENS OF MY COUNTY ARE TRAMPLED, WHETHER BY CRIMINALS OR AN OVERREACHING GOVERNMENT.” SHERIFF BRAD ROGERS

In keeping with that promise, Rogers sent the following letter:

“I understand that you have made recent requests to (the farmer) for documents and to appear before a grand jury, and he has had a number of inspections and attempted inspections on his farm within Elkhart County. This is notice that any further attempts to inspect this farm without a warrant signed by a judge, based on probable cause, will result in federal inspectors’ removal or arrest for trespassing by my officers or I. In addition, if any further action is taken by the federal government on (the farmer), while he is in Elkhart County, I will expect that you or federal authorities contact my office prior to such action. I will expect you to forward this information to your federal associates, including the FDA.” Sheriff Brad Rogers.

To make a long story short, the feds cancelled the subpoenas and the grand jury as well as stopping their frequent inspections and mfor the past five years the farmer has lived in peace.  Under Obama, federal agencies have tried to enforce their ideology instead of applying the current law and have in most cases have so financially devastated their victims and left 5them no choice but to surrender.  That makes sense because most of the victims don’t live in Elkhart County Indiana.Sheriff Brad Rogers, I salute you.
