Michelle Obama Decimates Graduation at Jackson State University

Parents of graduates at Jackson State University, a well know black university are grumbling about the way Michelle Obama has played games with their graduation ceremonies originally slated for April 30th.  The university had invited her to speak.  To accommodate her schedule, they moved the event to April 23rd at 8 AM.  Then they moved it to 10 AM and finally to     3 PM.  Parents have to keep shuffling their schedules to see their children graduate.  It creates a hardship.  The only thing that could be worse is if she were in charge of the catering.

One parent,   Diana Kimbrough, was very vocal about it as she spoke to WAPT-V:

“We got notice 30 days out that it’s being changed to April 23.  Initially it was going to be 8 a.m., then it changed to 10 a.m., then it changed to 3 p.m.”

Kimbrough said the original plan was for 60 of her child’s relatives to attend the graduation, but will now only receive 15 tickets, leaving the other 45 in the lurch.

“Now we’re being told that only 15 people out of this party of over 60 adults and multiple children are coming to Jackson for this graduation.  We can only get 15 tickets.”

From The Daily Caller:

“We are so honored here at Jackson State to have been chosen for this honor, to actually host the first lady of the United States,” school spokeswoman Elayne Anthony told WAPT-TV.

“Everyone is extremely excited about participating,” JSU vice president for research and federal relations Loretta A. Moore added.

School officials say they will provide any extra tickets to this month’s commencement ceremony of a first-come, first-serve basis.

“What we have tried to do is make this commencement as great as we can,” Anthony told the station.

Jackson State’s graduation ceremony will occur at Mississippi Veterans Memorial Stadium, a spacious venue designed for sporting events and concerts.

Another mother Tina Hernandez hit the nail on the head when she said:

“This is not fair.  My son is more important than Michelle Obama.”
