There is hope for our world yet!
Bustle reported: A horrific shooting killed 11 people and injured at least six others at a Jewish synagogue in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, on Saturday morning. In the aftermath of the attack, two Muslim groups crowdfunded nearly $150,000 for the Pittsburgh victims of the Tree of Life Or L’Simcha Congregation. The Muslim crowdfunding website LaunchGood began crowdfunding on Saturday.
According to Daily Mail, a group of Muslim Americans has raised over 150k to help the victims of the synagogue shooting, through two non-profit organizations – CelebrateMercy and MPower Change. They created a crowdfunding campaign called Muslims Unite For Pittsburgh Synagogue, where they said, “We wish to respond to evil with good, as our faith instructs us, and send a powerful message of compassion through action. Through this campaign, we hope to send a united message from the Jewish and Muslim communities that there is no place for this type of hate and violence in America. We pray that this restores a sense of security and peace to the Jewish-American community who has undoubtedly been shaken by this event.”
This past Sunday, the head of the Islamic Center of Pittsburgh, Wasi Mohamed, made the announcement about the funds raised and was met with a huge standing ovation. He said, to the Jewish community, “We just want to know what you need. If it’s more money, let us know. If it’s people outside your next service protecting you, let us know we’ll be there.”
