NFL Star Does Something Incredible With Daughter’s “Participation Ribbon” From School

NFL star DeAngelo Williams’ daughter brought a “participation ribbon” home with her from school after not winning an event at their “field day”. He then proceeded to take the ribbon back to the school and give it back to the teacher.Apparently he doesn’t believe in “participation ribbons”.

According to The Blaze,

The little girl tried her best, but she failed to win the “Field Day” event at her school. Even so, she was handed a “participation ribbon” and sent on her way. The little girl then took the ribbon to show her father.

Perplexed, the dad took the participation ribbon from his daughter and returned it to the teacher who handed it out.

The father in this story is actually Pittsburgh Steelers running back DeAngelo Williams.

The NFL veteran, who worked tirelessly to earn his place as a longterm starter in the league, is apparently not a fan of the idea of “participation” awards.

But the real story is what happened after he took away the ribbon.

Williams said his daughter went back and “got 1st place” in the next event.

He then proudly pinned the first-place ribbon — and two third-place ribbons — on her shirt.

She’s a winner, now.

Is Williams wrong to have taken the ribbon away from his daughter in the first place or is he teaching her to be a winner like himself?
