Panama Claims It Has Confiscated 900 Pounds of Cocaine Trafficked by Castro

raid

Panamanian police have raided a Cuban ship headed for Belgium.  In the cargo hold, they found 900 pounds of cocaine they believe was shipped by Castro himself.  The incident has prompted a member of the House from Florida to accuse the Castro government with smuggling of drugs.

Rep Maria Diaz-Balart (R) Fl said:

“The Castro regime has once again been caught red-handed violating international law and norms.  This time, it reportedly was caught red-handed sending hundreds of kilos of cocaine to Belgium. This is only the latest in the Castro regime’s long history of links to narcotrafficking.”

Diaz-Balart has long been critical of Obama’s policies towards normalizing relations with Cuba.  He has pointed to the 2015 seizing of a Chinese ship carrying weapons from Cuba into Brazil, allegedly for the opposition leaders against the Brazilian government.

In unrelated news, Debbie Wasserman Schultz heard that two Brazilians drowned in the Atlantic Ocean.  Schultz commented:

“I don’t know how many is in a Brazilian, but it sounds like a lot.”

Diaz-Balart also brought up a 2013 incident in which 240 tons of military equipment, including Mig-21 fighters jets tht was seized in Panama as it was heading to North Korea.  He has stated that he is afraid that Obama’s policy of appeasement to Cuba will cause them to become emboldened to once again attempt to destabilize Central and South American countries and seek influence over them.
