[Photos] New Homeowner Receives Tip About A “Hatch” In Backyard… What He Found Was EPIC!!!

It’s not uncommon to hear of new homeowners digging up something strange in their backyards. Sometimes what they dig up is creepy; other times, it’s just plain cool.

A homeowner in Tucson, Arizona, recently got an unexpected tip from the property’s previous owner about a hidden “hatch” in the yard. What the homeowner found underneath that “hatch” left him truly amazed.

Reddit user John Sims, known as “Captantacitca” on the site, recently posted about the hidden “hatch” on his land and the shelter he discovered underneath. Sims wrote that after doing some research, he discovered that the shelter was actually a 1960s Cold War-era fallout shelter. City records even turned up a rough drawing of the shelter.

Once Sims opened the hatch, he explained, he was surprised to find steps in relatively good condition leading down to the shelter, so he carefully climbed down to investigate further.
