Pork Wins the Meatball War in Randers, Denmark

In Denmark, there is a growing movement to ban pork in public institutions.  The government is moving on the ban to appease the growing number of Muslim immigrants in the country.  Many of the Danish are upset with seeing their culture being changed to fit the Muslim sensibilities.  There are several traditional Danish dishes that are made from pork and residents are angry about being told what they and their children are able to eat.

Enter Randers.  City officials voted 16-15 to make the serving of pork in public institutions mandatory.  If you own a restaurant or run the cafeteria in a public school, you’d better have pork somewhere on the menu or suffer the consequences.  It’s really great news for the women of Randers.  They are now 99% less likely to be raped in a restaurant. (These restaurants could become a “safe space” for goats)

The Danish People’s Party, which is gaining support in Denmark, thanks to it’s anti-immigration policy is hoping that other cities follow the lead of Randers in order to preserve the Danish culture.  No other cities have votes pending but now that the taboo is broken, more will join in.

DPP spokesman Martin Henriksen wrote:

“The DPP is working nationally and locally for Danish culture, including Danish food culture, and consequently we also fight against Islamic rules and misguided considerations dictating what Danish children eat.”

The so called “Meatball War” was restarted last week when Integration Minister Inger Stojberg related a fictional anecdote about a Danish family removing their child from a school that banned pork.

DPP councilman Frank Norgaard pointed out that:

“We just want to ensure pork in our institutions for those who want it.  This isn’t about a general distrust of our institutions’ leaders, but more and more places around the country are trying to sneak through [policies that say] there shouldn’t be pork served in the institutions.”

Some institutions in the United States have begun offering Halal meals only.  I refuse to patronize any company that bows to the Muslim minority and I hope you will, too.
