Donald Trump has declared that his campaign will have a special guest tonight at the Hansen Agricultural Student Learning Center at Iowa State University in Ames. Iowa. There is a rumor that the guest is Sarah Palin and she plans to endorse Trump tonight, which would be his first endorsement by a political figure. The truth is it’s more than a rumor. Sarah Palin took a private flight from Alaska to Des Moines , Iowa. That same jet took off shortly after arriving in Tulsa, Oklahoma, which just happens to be the next stop on Trump’s campaign trail.
Sarah Palin has complimented bot Ted Cruz and Donald Trump, but in my estimation, she is choosing Trump because like her, he is a fighter. Like Trump, she was trashed by liberals and establishment republicans alike. From her experiences in 2008, when she was John McCain’s running mate, she learned that nothing is off limits to democrats and if they are going to be defeated, it needs to be someone who never backs down.
Palin made this remark back in December:
“I’m not going to pick one right now, but what a nice problem to have if it came down to Cruz and Trump. That’s a good problem for voters to have…they are both strong and very decisive and someone who would take the initiative. That is what we need today, and both of those candidates would fit that bill.”
Apparently, she has decided. Cruz campaign spokesman Rick Tyler, told CNN that:
“I think it [would] be a blow to Sarah Palin, because Sarah Palin has been a champion for the conservative cause, and if she was going to endorse Donald Trump, sadly, she would be endorsing someone who’s held progressive views all their life on the sanctity of life, on marriage, on partial-birth abortion.”
I’m not sure I would have said that if I were Tyler. It just seems kinda dangerous to threaten a woman who hunts wolves for fun. Palin’s endorsement is a mjor blow to Cruz and a powerful plus for Donald Trump. Sarah Palin is very influential in the Tea Party. It wouldn’t be far fetched to see her running for vice president, now that Cruz is unlikely to be asked if Trump wins the nomination.
Liberals and establishment republicans alike have tried to portray Palin as an idiot and incompetent. Before you make the same mistake, read her list of accomplishments here. If she’s an idiot, then this country needs all the idiots we can find.
