Further proof that American schools are merely liberal indoctrination centers…
From Independent Journal Review:
Christina Zavala lovingly packed her seven-year-old son’s lunch every day. In it, she placed a sweet note to her boy, a Bible verse and sometimes a short little story from the Bible.
The Washington Times reports that the other kids begged him to read the notes to them at lunchtime at Desert Rose Elementary and, soon, his classmates became so excited to hear each day’s story at lunchtime that they wanted notes of their own:
“The verses became so popular that other students started asking the boy for their own verses. Ms. Zavala then started providing additional Bible verses for her son’s friends that included short stories for context.”
The kids were pretty stoked about story time in the cafeteria. One little girl wanted to share a story with the teacher:“[T]eacher – this is the most beautiful story I’ve ever seen.”
But things blew up instead. The Liberty Counsel claims the Palmdale District teacher scolded the 7-year-old boy in class, saying he couldn’t do it anymore because of the separation between church and state. She ordered him to share his notes outside school grounds and only after school.
His mom reports that the boy came home in tears, afraid his teacher didn’t like him anymore. He said he was afraid to bring the notes.
But the Zavala family complied with the teacher’s request:
“Christina and C began to stand near the school gate briefly after school, per his teacher’s direction, to share the Bible verses and story with C’s friends, who would congregate there after the school bell rang. By this time, as many as fifteen children were requesting a copy of the Bible verse from C, and excitedly looked forward to a new one every day.”[emphasis added]
The Times reports that later in the afternoon of May 9th the school sent a Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Deputy to order the family to stop sending the Bible notes:“[A] Los Angeles Deputy Sheriff knocked at the door of C’s family residence. He stated that the school had called him to report that C and his parents had been sharing papers at school; and that this was not permitted because ‘someone might be offended.”
Haven’t heard that one before.
What would’ve happened if the kid was handing out verses from the Koran, or secular quotes?
Exactly the opposite, we would have to practice tolerance. Unbelievable!
