POTUS primaries are contentious and finding the ‘true’ and ‘factual’ info can be a challenge. Why?Because there are so many forces clawing for the top spot, lying about opponents has almost become an expected process.
Recently Ted Cruz has been on this merry-go-round, concerning his stance on education and homeschooling. Most folks won’t do the research to find the truth, and will just go with whatever the last 30 second soundbite that ran on the radio or TV told them. Here’s the argument and an interview in his own words to counter the claims that he is anti homeschooling. Please read, listen and share, so that you can be informed and make up your own mind, free from oppositional spin.
This came out a couple of weeks ago and started the swirl of controversy regarding Ted and his ‘anti’ homeschooling views.
Senator Cruz is at it again saying one thing and pushing a secret agenda. This time it involves you and your kids. His Proposed Bill, S306 “Enhancing Educational Opportunities for all Students Act” offers what is called Title 1 Money to all parents who home school. What he isn’t telling you is – all Title 1 Money comes with a string attached….that string is Federal Control over your choice in how your child is educated.
We are now learning that every thing Cruz presents needs to be lifted up and looked under, as well as shaken up to see what might fall out or crawl out because he sure isn’t going to tell you.
In a nut shell Ted Cruz’s Federal Education “Choice” is a deceptive term that really means your choice to home school will now fall under the classification of “private school” with all the Federal bells and whistles tacked on the end, including the United Nations mandates of cooperation for world education. (more on that later)
Now that we are aware of how Rafael Cruz always announces his seedy hidden agenda programs as though they each were the staff of life….we know how to read between the lines. But in his case we now know to always check the amendments he tags on to the end at the last minute.
“The rich and middle class have had school choice from the beginning of time,” said Sen. Cruz. “This fight is about ensuring that every child, regardless of race, ethnicity, or zip code has the same opportunity to choose the school that best fits their needs and will help them achieve their very best. I am proud to work with Sen. Lee and Congressman Messer on this legislation to give more and more kids hope and opportunity for a better life.”
The Enhancing Educational Opportunities for All Act would:
- Allow Title I funds to follow low-income students to any public or private school of their choice.
- Remove contribution limitations on Coverdell Education Savings Accounts, the lone tax break available to parents for K-12 expenses.
- Expand “529” Savings Accounts to cover K-12 elementary and secondary education expenses, giving families yet another option to pay for K-12 educational expenses.
Sounds good, but by now most all are aware of how Rafael Cruz always announces his seedy hidden agenda programs as though they were each the staff of life. We all now know we must read between the lines, and when it’s a bill, we must always check every word and the amendments he tags on at the end.

Presidential candidate Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) is one of the strongest advocates for homeschool freedom on Capitol Hill. Cruz is in a select group of elected leaders who have opposed United Nations Treaties and increased international control over our nation – and won.
Even before Cruz was elected to the U.S. Senate in 2012, back when he was Solicitor General of Texas, he argued before the Supreme Court and won a case pitting state sovereignty against the International Court of Justice and President George W. Bush. Cruz defended state sovereignty and won in Medellin v. Texas which upheld the conviction of a rapist and murderer who was later executed. Ted Cruz has championed U.S. sovereignty and homeschool freedom against UN control with his leadership against the dangerous UN Disabilities Treaty along with other conservatives, including fellow candidates
Which is why we found it laughable/ridiculous/absurd/preposterous (insert your preferred adjective) when a little known blogger recently made waves in the homeschool community by penning an article (complete with a “YUUUGE” picture of Donald Trump at the top!) titled “Cruz legislation Attacks Home Schooling – In Lockstep With United Nations One World Education!” We welcome a vigorous campaign debate on the issues, but the truth is not negotiable. Such a sensational, misleading, and false attack on Senator Cruz, who is a friend of homeschooling, needed to be addressed.
For over a decade the Home School Legal Defense Association has supported legislation enabling homeschooling families to use Coverdell Education Savings accounts for homeschool expenses. While families in private and public schools can set up these accounts to grow their own money tax free for their children’s education, homeschoolers have been left out in the cold.
