Ultra Music Festival co-founder, dead at age 43

Co-founder of Ultra Music Festival, has reportedly died at the age of 43.

News broke early this morning via social media that the Miami Nightlife icon Alex Omes had passed away but no information on the cause of death has been made available. Omes was instrumental in the creation of Ultra alongside former partner Russell Faibisch in 1999, a relationship that lasted until 2010 when disagreements cause the pair to part ways.

After taking his leave from the festival brand, Omes was responsible for the first run of Swedish House Mafia shows in Miami that year — performances that would later be credited with the trio’s meteoric rise in 2010-2011.
