BLM activist, Jessica Disu, appeared on the Kelly File and declared that the United States either needs to disarm or disband all police departments in the United States.
Claiming “the police force in this country began as a slave patrol,” Disu said, “We need to abolish the police, period.” Continuing, Disu said, “Demilitiarize the police, disarm the police, and we need to come up with community solutions for transformative justice.”
Asked who will protect communities without police, she responded, “We need to come up with community solutions.”
What are the alternatives? With no police, you have the one choice totalitarian regimes have had for centuries, the military. Disarming the police is an interesting idea. They’ve done that in the UK. In 2014-2015 over 23,000 bobbies were assaulted. Great Britain has a population of just 1/5 of ours meaning per capita, we would have had 115,000 assaults of our officers.
Not really, because drugs which are the main cause of violence in out inner city are legal there but not here. Disarming the police would lead to massive resignations. Who would want to risk their lives everyday without any way to defend yourself. Even if you ban all guns, criminals will be able to buy all they want on the black market.
What kind of community action that Disu mentions would take the place of police? Community policing? Will criminals suddenly abdicate their drug empires to community organizers? Fat chance. Black on black crime is the vast majority of violence in this country and without armed police, do you really believe it would get better?
The streets would soon resemble the wild west because everyone would need to carry a gun for protection.
