[VIDEO] CRAZY Things Happen When You Set Ping-Pong Balls ON FIRE!

Here’s one for the pyro crowd, or anyone who just wants a few minutes of amazement! These vids are wild and if you ever wondered what happens to ping pong balls when ignited, sit back and enjoy the pyro-technics.

Here’s your fun bit of science for the day using everyone’s favorite beer pong accessory.

You probably never realized that ping pong balls were even flammable in the first place. However, a couple of at home scientists have decided to show you just how flammable they really are.

In the video above, Youtube user chillincruisin sets up a nice, contained experiment demonstrating what happens when you set flame to a ping pong ball. As one might expect, it burns. Unexpectedly, however, it burns a LOT. The flame shoots up, creating an instantly visible hole in the thin wall of the ball as it spreads and eventually consumes the whole thing, leaving nothing but a pile of ash in its place.

The reason for this has nothing to do with its shape or size: it’s all in the material. Ping pong balls are made of a special plastic called celluloid. You’re probably familiar with this plastic for its other uses but in this case especially it’s very useful for conducting fire as it’s highly flammable.

With that out of the way, let’s take a look at what happens when you light over 2,000 ping pong balls on fire. How this guy ever got that many (or managed to count them all), we’ll never know.
