Will ExxonMobil’s Chairman Rex Tillerson be Trump Sec. of State?

Though other names still remain in the mix, ExxonMobil Chairman Rex Tillerson’s stock is rising in President Elect Trump’s ever growing search for a secretary of state.

NBC News reported:

“Donald Trump is expected to nominate Exxon Mobil CEO Rex Tillerson as his secretary of state, two sources close to the transition process told NBC News on Saturday.

tillTillerson, 64, became president of the Texas-based oil company in 2004 and has a close business relationship with Russian President Vladimir Putin. He has spent his entire till-5career at the company now known as Exxon Mobil.

The sources cautioned that nothing is final until the president-elect officially announces it, likely next week.

Tillerson met Saturday with Trump at Trump Tower in New York, the president-elect’s spokesperson confirmed.

The selection of Tillerson comes after Trump and his transition team spent weeks searching for someone to fill the post of the top U.S. diplomat. Former Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney and former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani were reportedly in the running. Giuliani said Friday he had taken his name out of consideration.”

Kellyanne Conway, Trump’s senior adviser, said recently, “You’re just talking about a very diverse group, I  think this is a tremendous process, because you can’t rush through such an important selection.”

Tillerson, aged 64 began his career at Exxon in 1875. He rose through the ranks quickly. He would have to take a pay cut to become Secretary of State.

It seems, from what I’ve heard Trump say, he has some wealthy people now in his cabinet who will earn $1 per year as Trump will earn as president.
