Nebraska Senator Ben Sasse has appointed himself the de facto CEO of the #NeverTrump movement and it may have a huge price tag when he comes up for reelection. At the Nebraska State Republican Convention (NSRC) Sasse and his position on Donald Trump earned him a rebuke from the attendees, who voted 400-8 to rebuke Sasse for his opposition to Trump. To emphasize their stand, the vast majority voted almost as unanimously to a resolution confirming their support for the presumptive nominee.
Although attendees were vocal in the denunciation of Sasse’s attempts to scuttle Trump’s bid for president, some voters still have a favorable opinion of Sasse . His problem is if he insists on continuing his campaign, he will be a one term senator. Sasse is supposed to be a very smart man, but quite frankly, I don’t see it. I keep hearing cruzbots saying that they refuse to choose the lesser of two evils. Even if you assume their contention is correct, it’s an uneducated opinion.
In 2012, I said this about Romney:
“Anyone who doesn’t vote for the lesser of two evils, must live with the greater of those two evils.”
We know who Hillary is and what she will do as president. She will go far beyond the corruption that Obama committed. She could conceivably sell the country out for contributions to the Clinton Foundation. In 2012, 4 million republicans didn’t vote. A mere 388,000 votes in the swing states would have given Romney the presidency. Now the same people who handed Obama a second term want to hand Hillary 8 years in the Oval Office and they plan to excuse it by calling themselves principled. What’s the difference between cruzbots identifying themselves as principled and a man identifying as a woman?
Nebraskans, to their credit, aren’t fooled.
