The family of a government employee blames politicians for covering up crimes and not doing enough to ensure their daughter’s safety after she was brutally murdered by a refugee Monday.
Alexandra Mezher, 22, was single-handedly overseeing a group of 10 teenage refugees when she was fatally stabbed after trying to break up a fight.
“It’s the Swedish politicians’ fault that she is dead,” one of the woman’s cousins told newspaper Expressen. “Our emotions are at the bottom. We need to know the truth. Everyone needs to know what happened at the end,” another relative added.
The murder follows a spree of violence at refugee centers with 322 reported cases in 2015 alone. In the week leading up to the fatal stabbing Monday, a knife fight broke out at one refugee center and police had to flee from a riot at another location.
