Jared Fogel the once rotund spokesperson for Subway is suing the parents of one of his former victims.The suit filed in March had asked for $150,000 in damages, though a motion from Fogle’s legal team wants to name the girl’s parents as defendants. To think that a convicted sex offender has the right to sue the family of someone he molested. This gives new meaning to, “How can a lawyer be so low to take on a case like this for monitery return”.
Fogle’s previous efforts to mitigate his responsibility for his heinous crimes have failed, with a federal judge rejecting his attempt to reduce his 15-year eight-month sentence earlier this year. The legal process unearthed documents showing sick texts in which he “craved” sex with 14- and 15-year-olds and was willing to pay hundreds of dollars for it.
In my humble opinion, this should not even reach the desk of a judge. To think lawyers will attempt to bring a case such as this is absurd. Fogel has not a leg to stand on, and is only in need of money to cover his costs. He is broke, and to try and black mail the family of one of his victims, by outing her name is shameless.
