ISIS captured 33 of it’s fighters they say were trying to desert. ISIS punished them by cutting off an ear, with a warning that should they try again, they will cut the other ear off, too. This is very telling in a way you may not have thought about. ISIS must be running out of troops. Before, all deserters were put to death in a most heinous manner but not now. They can’t afford to lose the fighters. But, I thought Donald Trump was a recruiting tool that would replenish ISIS.
Liberals like to claim that killing terrorists get more people to sign up to be terrorists. Well, a whole lot of ISIS terrorists are being killed, so why hasn’t ISIS grown to a massive size. Could it be that by killing terrorists you dissuade others from joining? Hey, it’s just crazy enough that it might just work. The 33 deserters were all from Mosul, an Iraqi city ISIS is quickly losing it’s control.
Coalition forces have also reported that the jihadists are using innocent civilians as human shields to protect them as they move about the shrinking portion of Mosul hey still hold.
The reports of severe punishment for deserting jihadists and mass execution for fleeing civilians come little more than a month after a report from Reuters of Islamic State group fighters attempting to escape Mosul by blending in with the stream of refugees flowing away from the battleground.
These reports reveal that the Islamic State group leaders are experiencing an immense pressure that they have never felt before, a result of the clear view of the threat and unabashed display of determined strength emanating from current U.S. leadership. It’s a welcome change after years of dithering and halfhearted efforts at containment of the radical Islamist menace.
