The family of a Louisiana student who was the victim in a sex abuse case involving two teachers in 2014 has sued for damages.

Shelley Dufresne and Rachel Respess, teachers at Destrehan High School, allegedly took the student, who was 16 at the time, to Respess’ apartment after a football game.

The teachers instigated a nine-hour threesome with the underage boy, according to the Independent Journal.

The teenager was a football player and was a student in Dufresne’s English class at the time. Dufresne, a mother of three, was 32 at the time the abuse took place, while Respess was 23, according to The Daily Caller.

The suit seeks damages from the alleged sexual relationship, the manner in which Dufresne reacted after the accusations came to light, and the emotional damage the experience has reportedly put the family through.

Dufresne had initiated an illicit relationship with the student, according to the parents’ lawsuit. The teacher had reportedly flirted with the teen in class, kissing him once in the classroom.

When the teen was absent from class one day, Dufresne texted him, which led to dozens of encounters over the next month. The two allegedly had sex 40 times in 36 days.

“Dufresne encouraged [the student] to believe that responding to Ms. Dufresne’s attention and advances would impact his grade,” read a court report.

Respess, who learned about the pair’s relationship, failed to report what was going on and instead suggested the three of them meet at her apartment after a football game.

Dufresne’s felony charges for carnal knowledge of a juvenile remain unresolved, reports The Daily Caller. Respess’ charges include failure to report a felony.

Dufresne taught at Destrehan High School for 10 years but permanently lost her teaching license after the charges. On separate but related charges, she managed to strike a plea deal that led to her serving no prison time and avoid having to register as a sex offender. Dufresne’s father is a Louisiana judge.

Dufresne is also reported to have posted on social media, railing against her student victim, causing further “embarrassment and humiliation,” according to the suit.

According to the Independent Journal, media outlets claimed she gloated on social media about the plea deal. She posted an update that read, “Only God Can Judge Me. Everybody Makes Mistakes. Retired Teacher. Family Oriented.”
