Texas governor signs law to block Anti-Israel companies from Texas contracts

Businesses that take their marching orders from anti-Israel United Nation leaders can kiss their current or future business contracts in Texas goodbye. According to the Daily Caller, Texas Gov. Greg Abbott on Tuesday signed the Anti-BDS bill, into law that prohibits state agencies from contracting with companies that boycott Israel. The law makes the Lone Star state one of nearly two dozen others that stand firmly with the state of Israel.

The Boycott, Divestments and Sanctions bill also prohibits certain public funds from investing in such businesses. The Texas governor was emphatic about his position of not tolerating any anti-Israel practices in the state. In a statement he stressed, “As Israel’s number one trading partner in the United States, Texas is proud to affirm its support for the people of Israel and we will continue to build on our historic partnership.”

The action taken by Texas is essential because currently in America there is an escalating anti-Israel pro U.S. Campaign for Palestinian Rights (USCPR) effort being engineered on college campuses and in many churches in the nation. Ever since 2001, when the organization name was the US Campaign to End the Israeli Occupation, USCPR this group has been infiltrating college campus groups and building an anti-Jewish state presence on the nation’s campuses.

U.S. Campaign for Palestinian Rights is a national coalition of hundreds of groups working to advocate for Palestinian rights and a shift in US policy which promotes protecting Israel from its anti-Israeli aggressors. Founded in 2001 as the US Campaign to End the Israeli Occupation, USCPR has been a leading advocate for the movement for Palestinian rights in the United States while simultaneously ignoring the horrendous terrorists’ actions, including bombings and murder carried out by Palestinian groups against Jewish citizens.

The unapologetic pro-Palestinian “Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions” (BDS) campaign has provided a list of what it regards as 170 plus BDS victories. Current U.S. Ambassador to United Nations Nikki Haley recognized the danger of such an anti-Israel movement in 2015. As then South Carolina Governor, she signed the first statewide ban law in the nation to stop efforts to boycott, divest and sanction Israel, according to the Jerusalem Post.

The pro-Israel movement by states has picked up momentum. Illinois passed a law in 2015 which explicitly bars the state from dealing with companies that boycott Israeli operations in territories controlled by Israel. Currently there are more than 20 states considering bills or have passed legislation that specifically target companies that comply with the Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions movement against Israel.

Even the state of California with its ultra-liberal Governor Jerry Brown signed a measure in September 2016 that requires companies doing business with the state to certify that they do not boycott or discriminate against any sovereign state, including Israel, reported JTA.
