Two lions have been killed after they severely mauled a man who stripped naked and entered their enclosure in an apparent suicide attempt. Zoo director Alejandra Montalba said staff were “deeply affected” by the loss of the animals.
The man is said to be in a grave condition in hospital after the incident at the Metropolitan Zoo in Santiago, Chile, on Saturday.
The young man broke into the enclosure, took off his clothes and jumped into the middle.
