Twitter announced a crackdown on terrorism in a blog post on Friday. They have so far suspended 125,000 accounts. people have been complaining about the amount of ISIS style terrorism being posted on Titter. Twitter says there is no magic algorithm that alerts them to the terrorist sites. Twitter says they are working with various law enforcement entities and other groups that will report terror accounts to Twitter for removal. Before the crackdown you had to be really bad in order to get your account suspended, like for writing while conservative.

As many experts and other companies have noted, there is no “magic algorithm” for identifying terrorist content on the internet, so global online platforms are forced to make challenging judgement calls based on very limited information and guidance. In spite of these challenges, we will continue to aggressively enforce our Rules in this area, and engage with authorities and other relevant organizations to find solutions to this critical issue and promote powerful counter-speech narratives.
In the past, terrorist groups have used these pages for training and for passing messages.
