You Won’t Believe What a Greek Official Proposed to Prevent Terrorism

Athen 24 - 26. apr. 06 Athen Akropolis 156 moh.

Over the past ten years, I have heard some of the most inane theories on how to prevent terrorism.  Marie Harf, a spokesperson for the State Department said that we could prevent terrorism if we could just give them jobs.  The French, the Dutch, the Swedes and many other countries opened their arms wide to a huge influx of Muslims and even though they did, they have all suffered terrorism.  Why is that?

Have you ever heard the story about the scorpion and the turtle?  The scorpion asked the turtle if he could swim across the lake on the turtle’s back because there was plenty of food on the other side.  The turtle refused because he was afraid that the scorpion would sting and kill him.  The scorpion pointed out that if he did that, he would die, too.  That made sense to the turtle, so he let the scorpion climb on his back and he began swimming to the other side of the lake.  When they were halfway across the lake, the scorpion bit the turtle on his exposed neck.  The turtle asked the scorpion why he bit him because now they would both die.  The scorpion said, “Because I am a scorpion and that’s what we do.”

The Greek official who was not named told a reporter that Greece must build a mosque in Athens as has been discussed because if they don’t Greece would become the victims of terrorism.  So, in his mind if Greece builds the mosque, it will make them safe.  That’s nonsense.  Even if the mosque does not become radicalized, there will always be some worshippers, who will want to strike out against those who do not believe.  The infidels.

ISIS seems to really like attacking ancient sites and destroy them just as they have done recently in Palmyra.  Do the Greeks really want to take a chance and swim the lake?
