Since We’re Not Talking Substance In This POTUS PRIMARY, Here are 8 Things You Need To Know About The Cruz Sex Scandal. Yeah, it looks like we are gonna elect a president based on scandal, regardless of which way you swing, politically. On the democrat side, Hillary. We don’t have enough internet space to list all of her egregious and atrocious actions. And as for the Republicans, the people have spoken. NO MORE CORRUPT CAREER POLITICIANS! So let’s dig up dirt and slime on both front runners and flood the headlines and debates with non-substantive B.S. Because, really!? Who wants to talk economy, foreign policy, obamacare, supreme court appointments? And if we can’t talk corrupt politicians, let’s talk corrupt non-politicians, right? After a week of Melania/Heidi mudslinging let’s keep the smut flying with …. a sex scandal.
OR IS THERE A SEX SCANDAL? While the Enquirer sometimes gets it right, sometimes it might not, especially if one front running billionaire has a very close relationship with the tabloid CEO. But first let’s start with the smut. Here’s what going round the internet…
Conservative Outfitters: The National Enquirer just dropped a bombshell on the Cruz campaign and the internet exploded overnight. Reports claim investigators found Ted Cruz allegedly had an affair with five different women.
According to the Enquirer:
“Private detectives are digging into at least five affairs Ted Cruz supposedly had,” claimed a Washington insider. “The leaked details are an attempt to destroy what’s left of his White House campaign!” The ENQUIRER reports that Cruz’s claimed mistresses include a foxy political consultant and a high-placed D.C. attorney!
The publication did not name names and only printed pixelated photos. Internet users on Twitter, Reddit and 4chan quickly went to work to determine the identity of all five women while using the hashtag #CruzSexScandal.
8 THINGS YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT TED CRUZ’S SEX SCANDAL:
1. THE NATIONAL ENQUIRER WAS RIGHT ABOUT JOHN EDWARDS, TIGER WOODS AND JESSE JACKSON
Surprisingly The National Enquirer has a good track record reporting scandals like this. This same magazine broke the John Edwards scandal, Tiger Woods scandal, Jesse Jackson scandal, and the Gary Hart scandal.
2. WASHINGTON TIMES REPORTER CONFIRMS STORY
Drew Johnson of the Washington Times confirmed on Twitter Thursday night that two of Ted Cruz’s mistresses named by the National Enquirer are accurate.
3. BREITBART HAD STORY BUT CHOSE NOT TO PUBLISH
Breitbart reporter Allum Bokhari confirmed on twitter he was scooped. Breitbart had the story about Ted Cruz’s affair back in February but did not publish. Ben Shapiro?
4. #CRUZSEXSCANDAL IS TRENDING ON TWITTER
5. THE INTERNET CLAIMS TO HAVE IDENTIFIED WHO MOST OF THE WOMEN ARE
6. DONALD TRUMP SPOKESWOMAN KATRINA PIERSON MADE HER INSTAGRAM PRIVATE LAST NIGHT
Donald Trump spokeswoman Katrina Pierson made her Instagram private last night after #CruzSexScandal started trending online. Pierson previously worked for Ted Cruz.
7. TEXAS POLICE REPORT FROM 2005 CLAIMS HEIDI CRUZ WAS “A DANGER TO HERSELF” WHEN OFFICERS FOUND HER SITTING NEAR AUSTIN EXPRESSWAY
8. CRUZ ALLEGEDLY PAID “HUSH MONEY” TO CARLY FIORINA
Sarah Isgur Flores worked for Carly Fiorina as deputy campaign manager. In July 2015 an unusual $500,000 donation was made by Ted Cruz-affiliated Super PAC, Keep the Promise to Carly Fiorina’s official campaign fund.
BUT NOT SO FAST!
BREAKING in NewRepublic.com has this to say about the smut, that’s not yet officially smut.
Did Donald Trump plant a Ted Cruz adultery allegation in The National Enquirer?
The Enquirer, which I am legally obligated to note sometimes gets things right, like the John Edwards mistress story, is reporting that Republican presidential hopeful Ted Cruz has had at least five extramarital affairs. Per the Enquirer’s report:
“Private detectives are digging into at least five affairs Ted Cruz supposedly had,” claimed a Washington insider.
“The leaked details are an attempt to destroy what’s left of his White House campaign!”
The ENQUIRER reports that Cruz’s claimed mistresses include a foxy political consultant and a high-placed D.C. attorney!
The Cruz story has all the hallmarks of the Edwards story: hypocrisy, a slimy politician who rubs a lot of people the wrong way for reasons they can’t quite explain, sex. What it doesn’t have yet is any hard evidence, like the John Edwards love child shot, though the Enquirer is following the money.
But there are reasons to be suspicious beyond the usual Enquirer caveats. Donald Trump, who threatened to “spill the beans” about Cruz’s wife on Tuesday, has close ties with The National Enquirer. As New York’s Gabriel Sherman wrote in October of 2015, “Trump and Enquirer CEO David Pecker have been friends for years. ‘They’re very close,’ said a source close to the Enquirer.” Trump was the reportedly the source behind a hit piece on Ben Carson, which claimed the surgeon left a sponge in a patient’s brain and regularly committed malpractice. The Enquirer also went after Carly Fiorina in the fall.
So, Cruz may be having an affair or he might not. Conservatives have been referring to it on Twitter, using the hashtag #TheThing. But it’s also possible that Donald Trump—who, it should be noted, has regularly attacked Cruz for fighting dirty and lying—is behind this attack.
And the alliance with the Enquirer is not new news:
NYMag: Whether or not Trump has been a source for the Enquirer, his friendship with Pecker has paid dividends. At key moments during the GOP primary the Enquirer has helped boost Trump’s campaign by attacking his rivals and fawning over him. Two weeks after Trump launched his campaign in mid-June, the Enquirer reported that Jeb Bush was “involved in the drug trade in Florida” in the ’80s and that, as governor, he was plagued by “sleazy cheating scandals … [with a] Playboy Bunny turned lawyer.” In September, the Enquirer published an unflattering photograph of Bush’s adult daughter apparently taking cigarette breaks at her office. The article hit just days after Jeb told Americans they needed to work longer hours.
Don’t get me wrong. Both candidates have been diving into the mud wallow with both feet, head first, with gusto. But this one may be manufactured by the Trump campaign. Until there’s a real ‘smoking gun’ I may just be looking for a write in candidate if these two can’t seem to get back on task and discuss real political issues.
