Black Day For Fish And Wing Loving Vegas Travelers

It seems that in the city that made sex and gambling fun and acceptable for the whole family, there is just no place for a great, reasonably priced fish sandwich. Los Vegas is home, at least for now to the worlds largest Hooters restaurant, but shortly that will all change as less than two years after opening in the Palms Casino Resort in Las Vegas, the famous dining establishment is closing. That is the word just released from the franchise owners this weekend.

The restaurant, which officially opened in September 2015, takes up a whopping 15,200 square feet and has the capacity to seat up to 500 guests. But apparently, there is just too much to see and do while you are in “Sin City”, Nevada and the restaurant that features cute, sexy, ladies in short shorts just can’t compete no matter how good the fish sandwiches and wings are.

Despite the fact that nationally, the brand is thriving with new businesses opening all the time, not to mention that the chain is also preparing for a massive expansion throughout the Asia. Hooters at the Palms Casino also faced stiff competition from other eateries in the city that also feature scantily clad waitresses like Tilted Kilt and Heart Attack Grill. According to Pace Vegas. Sources said the Hooters at the Palms had been losing millions of dollars each year since its opening.

A spokeswoman for the Palms Casino Resort confirmed to media that an exact closing date for the restaurant had not yet been set, but would be sometime in mid-May. In her statement, she said: “Hooters will be closing in the coming weeks to make way for exciting new enhancements we are planning for The Palms.  We thank the entire Hooters team for being a great addition to the property’s food and beverage offerings the past few years,” but she refused to confirm if it would be another restaurant which took over the vacant space or some other type of business such as a retail establishment.

When the restaurant first opened in 2015 at the Palms’ it took over the space formerly occupied by “Heraea”, a female-focused sports bar that was open for less than a year. The Hooters chain, which first opened in 1983, now operates over 400 locations in 42 states and 26 countries.
