UPDATE:  Port Authority now says no shots were fired and they are reopening Terminals 1 and 8

Two shots were fired inside a terminal at Kennedy Airport in New York City.  The Security gates have been closed and people waiting for incoming passengers are getting texts that the flights are being diverted to other airports.  Both LaGuardia and Newark are close by.  The shots were fired inside terminal 8.  The terminal is being evacuated so police can search for the shooter.

From The New York Post:

NYPD directing passengers as far away from the terminal as possible and telling passengers they were looking for someone armed inside the terminal.

“If you’re forgetting anything it’s not worth your life, everyone move now!” one officer yelled.

Port Authority officers with drawn guns and NYPD officer with automatic weapons were on the scene.

The NYPD and Port Authority officials could not immediately give any more details on the incident.

Kennedy Airport was formerly known as Idlewild.  You might remember that from Goodfellas.

More details when they become available.
